Saying No brings you more opportunities, the right ones, for you to grow and make a greater impact. How so? By focusing on what really matters and discard anything else that doesn’t help you in getting there.
There are 3 C’s that can sum it up:
It’s about making the right decision for you, to bring you to your best. Saying No brings you closer to your objectives and being intentional. It allows you to focus on the things that truly matter.
Is it an Opportunity or a Distraction? It gives you the headspace to weigh in the alternatives to better understand if you’re moving closer or away to your goal.
Actually, Don’t Care. This goes along the lines of power dynamics and sunk costs. The more invested you are into something, the less power and control over it you’ll have.
The outcome of “caring too much” is an infinite loop of doing things that will only get you stuck. An infinite loop of being “generous”. Not being able to recognize it’s a distraction.
